Birthing Center
Breathe…Relax…We’re minutes away. Take comfort in knowing The Birthing Center is near and always ready to deliver quality care. We offer childbirth education, experienced physicians and nursing staff, choices for pain management, and
contemporary birthing suites. We’ll help you bring miracles to life through standard deliveries and caesarean births.  CMH has a certified lactation counselor to assist all new mothers with breast feeding.

Cardiac Rehabilitation
If you’ve experienced a heart attack, bypass surgery, coronary artery disease symptoms, or other cardiac surgeries, CMH offers the Phase II Cardiac Rehab Program—medically supervised exercise therapy sessions held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and lasting about one hour. Physician referrals are required to participate in this rehab program.

Laboratory
Our experienced staff of laboratory professionals provides 24/7 service for emergency room patients, hospital patients, outpatients and nursing home residents. Routine and emergency testing in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, coagulation, urinalysis and transfusion services
are performed using current, modern technology. Outreach and specimen collection services are available to local residents, physician offices and area businesses.

Radiology
CMH provides a comprehensive choice of imaging services to patients including:

  • Diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided biopsies/aspirations
  • Diagnostic and screening mammography and stereotactic breast biopsy
  • CT and CT guided biopsies/aspirations
  • General radiography and fluoroscopy exams
  • Cardiac stress tests, Holter & Event Monitors, EKG
  • Nuclear medicine including nuclear stress tests
  • MRI

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists offer treatments that help individuals achieve independence in all facets of their lives. The CMH Occupational Therapy team works with people to address problems such as:

  • Work related injuries like repetitive strain injuries and tendonitis
  • Limitations following stroke or head injury
  • Arthritis, multiple sclerosis or other serious chronic conditions
  • Birth injuries, learning problems or developmental disabilities
  • Burns, spinal cord injuries or amputations
  • Orthopedic injuries, such as fractures, tendon injuries or traumatic hand injuries
  • Specialized custom splinting to enhance hand function
  • Vision or cognitive problems that threaten an individual’s ability to drive or function at home or work
  • Specialty work injury related services, including our work injury clinic that offers Functional Capacity Testing and Work Hardening/Conditioning.
     
CMH also offers a Certified Hand Therapist-one of only five north of the Twin Cities. This therapeutic and rehabilitative specialty focuses on a variety of upper extremity disorders. In addition, the CMH occupational therapy team offers all types of job site assessment services for area businesses to ensure the proper design of work stations and use of tools in preventing injuries and accidents.

Orthopedic
With a Board Certified, full-time orthopedic surgeon on staff, Community Memorial Hospital Orthopedic Services makes elective orthopedic surgery convenient for Carlton County area residents. Dr. Timothy McLeod
and Dr. Mark Gregerson perform total joint replacement surgery, shoulder, arm, hand, hip, knee, ankle, and foot surgery, arthroscopic knee surgery, and sports medicine surgery at CMH. Non-emergency fracture care and surgery is also provided.

Physical Therapy
Physical therapists help people of all ages overcome or adjust to physical disabilities caused by injury, illness, post-surgical recovery, or birth defects. The CMH Physical Therapy team provides help with the following:
  • Sports injuries for the recreational or competitive athlete
  • Post surgery rehabilitation to regain mobility of the neck, back, shoulder, arm, hip, leg, and foot
  • Stroke rehabilitation to help patients increase their independence
  • Muscle and joint pain, including arthritis, fibromyalgia, soft tissue strains & sprains, tension headaches
  • Neuromuscular development for children with developmental delays and motor control/balance deficits, in addition to adults with balance and strength deficits
  • Work injuries sustained on the job site or at home
  • Wound care such as skin ulcerations and burns
  • Women’s health issues such as pre-partum exercise program and urinary incontinence treatment
  • Treatment of vertigo/dizziness

Physical Therapy is available seven days a week and appointments can often be scheduled within 24 hours during the workweek. Outpatient clinic hours are 6:30 am until 6:30 pm on weekdays. Limited outpatient services are available on weekends.

Speech Language Pathology
Speech language pathologists work with a variety of impairments that affect a person’s ability to communicate effectively. In addition, speech-language pathologists treat individuals with swallowing impairments. The speech-language pathology department at CMH provides evaluation and treatment services to children and adults for the following disorders:
  • Aphasia
  • Apraxia of speech
  • Articulation disorders
  • Auditory processing disorders
  • Autism spectrum disorders
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Cleft palate
  • Cognitive communication disorders
  • Developmental delays
  • Dysarthria
  • Language disorders
  • Genetic disorders
  • Neurological conditions (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s)
  • Stuttering/Fluency disorders
  • Voice disorders

Sports Medicine
At CMH, we’ll have you back enjoying your regular activities in no time. Our comprehensive Sports Medicine department includes general orthopedic care, fracture care, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. With an Orthopedic Surgeon on staff, you’ll be able to hit the trails in every season.

Women's Health Center                                                                                                                         
Dr. Skott Nielsen, OB/GYN, provides OB consultative services to area family practice physicians, as well as consultative services to patients for a variety of female problems. These areas include: premenstrual disorders, infertility, menopause, incontinence, abnormal bleeding and other female health issues. A full spectrum of gynecological surgery services is also available. Dr. Nielsen is board certified and a fellow with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Urgent Care
Community Memorial Hospital’s Urgent Care Clinic is open Monday-Friday from 5:00-9:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am-3:00 pm.
